Scholarships Up to Rs 12 Lakh for Indian Students in New Zealand

New Zealand is also known worldwide for its excellent education system. According to the 2024 QS World University Rankings, 6 out of 8 universities in New Zealand are ranked among the top 500 in the world, reflecting the quality of education in this country.

The medical school of the University of Otago, which was established in 1875, is among the top 150 medical schools in the world. The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences of the University of Auckland has reached the 65th rank in 2024. The fees for studying health science here range between 25,000 to 45,000 New Zealand dollars per year.

After completing studies, the average salary of a doctor is 222,300 annually, i.e. about 18,525 New Zealand dollars per month. According to the 2024 Health Workforce Report, 35% of international health graduates have found jobs in research institutions and the private healthcare sector. The three-year post-study work visa introduced in 2023 has further eased the path to employment for international students.

New Zealand has also made new experiments in the humanities. Victoria University of Wellington’s Digital Humanities Initiative combined traditional subjects with digital skills in 2023, leading to 28% more students enrolling in the program. This led to jobs in the same year.

Excellence Awards offer scholarships worth up to Rs 260,000 to Indian students. Financial aid for international students has also improved. A scholarship scheme of 260,000 New Zealand dollars (Rs 12 lakh) has been launched for Indian students under the New Zealand Excellence Awards 2025.

In the 2024 International Student Experience Survey, 86% of the students described the experience here as good.
