Hanuman Ansh Box Office: Neem Karoli Baba Film Crosses ₹236 Crore Worldwide, Producer Denies ₹100 Crore OTT Deal

Hanuman Ansh has turned into one of the biggest box-office surprises of 2026. Made on a reported budget of around ₹2 crore, the devotional drama has crossed ₹236 crore worldwide after 37 days in theatres. The makers have also denied reports of a ₹100 crore OTT deal.

Vishal Chaturvedi’s Hanuman Ansh, based on the life and spiritual journey of Neem Karoli Baba, continues its extraordinary theatrical run more than a month after its release. The film, which started with a modest opening and a limited number of screens, has witnessed a dramatic turnaround driven largely by word of mouth.

According to trade data cited by NDTV and The Indian Express, the film’s India net collection stood at around ₹192 crore after Day 37, while its domestic gross crossed ₹227 crore. With overseas earnings of about ₹9.50 crore, its worldwide gross has moved beyond ₹236 crore.

The film recorded a major jump on its sixth Saturday.

Hanuman Ansh earned ₹18.50 crore net in India on Day 37, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. That was a 76.2% increase over its sixth Friday collection of ₹10.50 crore. The film played across 7,449 shows on Saturday, compared with 5,743 shows the previous day.

The Hindi 2D version registered an overall occupancy of around 56.31% on September 12. Night shows performed particularly well, recording an occupancy of 68.69%, while evening shows recorded 66.46%.

The figures may vary slightly between trade trackers and updates, but the overall picture is clear: the film has delivered an extraordinary return compared with its modest production cost.

From a Slow Start to a Massive Box-Office Run

The success of Hanuman Ansh is particularly striking because the film did not begin its theatrical journey like a conventional blockbuster.

Released on August 7, 2026, the film initially had only around 25 screens and collected approximately ₹1.08 crore during its first week. Its second week was even weaker, with around ₹0.40 crore.

The turnaround began in the third week.

The film collected approximately ₹10.40 crore in its third week, followed by an impressive ₹61 crore in the fourth week. Its fifth week was even stronger, bringing in around ₹90.25 crore net, according to The Indian Express.

The growing audience response eventually resulted in more screens and stronger show counts, allowing the film to maintain momentum even as newer releases entered cinemas. NDTV reported that its screen count had initially fallen to just 25 before gradually increasing as audience interest grew.

Why Did Hanuman Ansh Become a Word-of-Mouth Hit?

The film’s performance has been largely attributed to audience-driven promotion.

Rather than relying solely on a large-scale commercial release, Hanuman Ansh gradually attracted viewers who recommended it to others. This helped create a snowball effect, with audiences continuing to arrive at theatres several weeks after its release.

Producer Ragini Sona credited the audience for spreading the word about the film and described the response as something the team had not witnessed before.

The film’s devotional subject, combined with the story of Neem Karoli Baba, appears to have helped it connect with audiences looking for spiritual and faith-based cinema.

Is Hanuman Ansh Getting a ₹100 Crore OTT Deal?

Reports of a massive ₹100 crore OTT deal have recently circulated online, but the film’s producer has categorically denied them.

Ragini Sona said there is currently no such deal and urged audiences not to focus on speculation about streaming offers. She also said the team remains focused on the theatrical release and wants viewers to continue watching the film in cinemas.

The Indian Express also reported that there is no confirmed OTT release date for Hanuman Ansh at present. The report noted that Hindi films generally have an eight-week theatrical window before an OTT release, meaning the film would have to wait before becoming eligible for streaming under that framework.

OTT Platforms Had Initially Rejected the Film

The film’s current success is even more notable considering its difficulties before release.

Director Vishal Chaturvedi has previously spoken about approaching streaming platforms with the film. According to his account, the responses he received were disappointing, including what he felt was dismissive treatment of the story and its premise.

Instead of abandoning the theatrical route, the filmmakers decided to release the movie in cinemas.

That decision has now paid off spectacularly.

Hanuman Ansh’s Global Release Adds Another Boost

The film has also expanded beyond the Indian market.

After its domestic success, Hanuman Ansh began its international theatrical release on September 11. The overseas market has already contributed around ₹9.50 crore to its worldwide gross, according to the latest reports.

With its domestic run still continuing and international markets now contributing, the film has a chance to push its worldwide total even higher.

Hanuman Ansh 2 and the Future of the Franchise

The success of the first film could also mark the beginning of a larger franchise.

The Indian Express reported that Hanuman Ansh was conceived as the first instalment of a trilogy. The filmmakers are also considering expanding the story’s universe into other formats, including games and comic books.

For a film that began with a small release and a modest budget, its transformation into a major theatrical success could therefore have implications well beyond its current box-office run.

The Biggest Surprise Is Its Profitability

The headline figure isn’t simply the ₹236 crore worldwide gross. It is the scale of the return compared with the film’s reported budget.

With production costs reported at around ₹2 crore, a worldwide gross exceeding ₹236 crore represents more than 100 times the reported production budget. The Indian Express calculated the film’s worldwide earnings at roughly 118 times its reported ₹2 crore budget.

That makes Hanuman Ansh a rare example of a low-budget Indian film becoming a major theatrical phenomenon without the traditional combination of superstar casting and a huge opening.

What Happens Next?

For now, the makers appear determined to keep the film in theatres rather than rush towards an OTT release.

There is no confirmed ₹100 crore streaming deal and no officially announced OTT release date. Meanwhile, the theatrical run continues to benefit from strong audience interest, with the film approaching the ₹250 crore worldwide milestone.

Hanuman Ansh therefore stands as one of 2026’s most unexpected box-office stories — a film that started quietly, survived a limited theatrical footprint and eventually became a word-of-mouth blockbuster.
